Block Junk Text Message

Are you looking for a way to block junk text messages?

Then don’t despair because it is possible to avoid cellphone text spam messages. Mobile spamming, SMS spam or Spa-SMS is commonly known as M-spam or simply junk text messages.

It makes up the majority of the one billion (yes, one billion) text messages send everyday in America. Telco studies have shown that more and more of these messages are unwanted, unsolicited junk mail.

In other words they’re spam. And it’s become a growing problem simply because more people are using their iPods, Blackberries, PDAs and cell phones to access information on the go.

Most people think that they only get spam messages on their computers. What they don’t realize is that text spam messages actually do originate on the Net but magically end up on your mobile phone.

And here’s the other problems. Firstly, you can’t delete SMS spam without opening it first. Second, you are paying for text message spam. Yes, you are paying to be spammed and the sender’s are paying nothing because they are sending the message from their computer’s email program free-of-charge.

Most carriers charge you for receiving text messages, regardless of whether you want it or not and there is very little you can do about avoiding the bill once the spam text  message has been received. Thirdly, M-spam can slow down your phone by using up all the memory.

And lastly, if you use a smartphone or a PDA (personal digital assistant) like a Blackberry or Palm that functions as a personal computer, you are at real risk of downloading viruses through text spam.

You are also vulnerable to phishing attacks where you are directed via text message to a website that collects all your personal information and downloads software that enable hackers to control your cell phone from afar.

Of course, you are totally oblivious to all of this and were probably just wondering who keeps sending you all the annoying Spam Text Messages. So you’re probably thinking: “Why can’t I just get some anti-spam software for my cell phone like I use on my computer?”

Well these days you can. But not all mobile carriers let you activate it. The problem is because SMS spam is coming to you via your phone company. It doesn’t arrive directly from the source (i.e. the spammer’s computer) but is carried to you by your mobile phone operator.

You get unwanted spam text because your mobile carrier sends it to you. Whether that is intentional or unintentional is the billion dollar question. SMS spam filtering software that you put on your phone does work. But only if your mobile carrier lets you use it.

The only way to stop m-spam is to stop it at the phone company. That is how you can block junk text messages or at least substantially reduce the volume depending on your mobile carrier.
